Course information

This is a one year resit course covering the two year GCSE maths syllabus, mainly aimed at foundation tier but with some opportunity for higher. It offers a comprehensive introduction to Maths as well as providing the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification. Delivery takes an innovative mastery approach to build students' confidence, fluency, problem-solving and reasoning in readiness for GCSE and beyond. The qualification consists of three equally weighted written examination papers which are assessed at the end of the year. The assessments cover all key aspects of mathematics at level 2: Number, Algebra, Ratio and proportion, Geometry and measures, Probability and Statistics. If you are 16-18 and have not yet achieved a grade 4 then this course is compulsory. There are various possible combinations in which you can study for this qualification. If you come to college to take a GCSE resit program, then this will be one you will choose to make up a full time program of study. If you come to college for a vocational course this GCSE will be run alongside. For 19+ learners there is an option to study this as an evening class or as part of a Pre- Access or Access program (subject to suitability assessment).
