The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Nail Treatments is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a junior nail technician. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and will support you to gain employment as a junior nail technician, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of either a Level 1 qualification in beauty therapy or GCSE grades A-D and a successful interview.
This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior nail technician including mandatory units covering the following: providing manicure and pedicure treatments, health and safety and client care and communication.
You will further develop your understanding and skills by covering specialist units which include: maintaining nail enhancements, working with others and providing nail art. The structure of this qualification will enable you to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required for the role of junior nail technician.
Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and nail products and equipment. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare and enhance the nails and cuticles on the hands and feet using different techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.
The VTCT Level 2 Award in LED Gel Polish Techniques is a single unit award qualification about applying, maintaining and removing LED gel polish products to the nails.
This qualification aims to enable you to enhance the ranges of services and techniques offered to nail services clients.
This qualification also covers the skills and knowledge required to prepare for the service and maintain effective health, safety and hygiene working practices throughout the treatment.
The VTCT Level 2 Award in Preparing to Run a Hair and Beauty Business has been specially designed to enable you to gain the skills, knowledge and understanding required to be a successful beauty therapy or hairdressing entrepreneur, including an awareness of the benefits and risks involved in running your own business.
Level 2 Certificate in Nail Treatments
This qualification is based on the beauty therapy National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK's leading professional association, the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) as being fit for purpose for preparing you for a career as a junior nail technician. This qualification will prepare you for employment as a junior nail technician. You will also be eligible to join a professional association and gain insurance as a junior nail technician. Career opportunities as a junior nail technician exist in a variety of contexts, including:

- Working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings.
Whilst the primary purpose of this qualification is to prepare you for employment as a junior nail technician, you may choose to develop your skills further by undertaking qualifications at Level 3.
A Level 1 qualification in Beauty Therapy or GCSE grades A-D, and a successful interview.
It is desirable that the candidates have a creative flair, good communication skills and a genuine desire to learn the art of nail techniques.
It is also desirable that the candidate has good hand and eye co-ordination due to the complexity of applying nail enhancements. It is essential that applicants demonstrate an appropriate level of inter-personal skills at interview as this is a customer focused industry
