What to expect from the course

This full Level 3 sport course is for people aged 16-18 or 19+ (two pathways) Who are interested in pursuing a career in the Sport and Recreation Industry and gain a vocational L3 qualification

This course will help students progress onto further education at Universities or progress internally onto our L4 HNC in Sport

If you are a talented footballer and are interested in being invited to attend trials for the Football Academy, you will have the option to apply for our successful Football Academy.

• Principles of Sport Coaching
• Sports in the U.K
• Learning and Developing Sport Skills
• Anatomy and Physiology for Sport and Exercise
• Injury in Sport, Sport and Disability
• Nutrition for Sport and Exercise
• Sports Development
• Career Planning
• Health & Safety
Those studying the Extended Diploma will take additional modules:
• Training and Fitness
• Sport and Exercise Psychology
• Advanced Sports Leadership
• Exercise Prescription
• Technology in Sport
• Sports as a business
The course will also include tutorials for the 16-18 year olds.

The course will be assessed through different forms of assessment including exams, practical's, presentations and assignments which are graded at Pass, Merit or Distinction.
This course is Advanced Learning Loan eligible which can fully cover the course fee.

Practical sessions will take place at the Learning Exchange and in specialist centres throughout the city, such as the FA headquarters and visits to universities around the country.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

Higher Education Degrees: Sports Studies, Sports Science, Sports Development, Physical Education Teaching, on completion of the Diploma.

Employment in the Sport / Leisure Industry and uniformed services.

Entry Requirements

There are two pathways for this course, one for adult students aged 19+ and one for students below this age.

For both pathways, you must be aged 17 + and have 5 GCSEs at 4/C or above to include English, Maths, Science or alternatively at least a Merit in a Level 2 equivalent course .

An enthusiasm and passion to succeed and develop yourself with great attendance will be vital to you achieving success on this course.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t have 2 A-Levels (or equivalent), you won't have to pay any fees for this course.

24 years old or over or 19-23 and have 2 A-Levels (or equivalent) at the start of the course? Fees are payable, but you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan to cover the cost of your course. Please note this is a two year programme that consists of two courses. Your fee status may change from one year to the next depending on age and circumstance at the start of the next course e.g. if you turn 19 before progressing to the next level, you may be required to pay fees as outlined above.
