What to expect from the course

This short course, delivered in partnership with the John Haynes Foundation, aims to give you the confidence and skills to thrive in both your personal life and your career. It is perfect for you if you want help developing your confidence and self-esteem, as well as the skills your need to secure a fulfilling job.

It covers a wide range of important topics, which you'll learn in a fun and supportive group environment. We'll support you every step of the way.

You'll cover important topics such as:

- Health safety and wellbeing: keeping yourself and others safe at work is a vital skill which employers look for.
- Interview skills: learn how to feel comfortable and confident, and make a great first impression.
- Resilience: learn how to overcome obstacles and bounce back from setbacks.
- Employability: develop your personal and social skills for career progression and job interviews, and improve your written communication skills to strengthen career progression through your CV and personal statement.

The course includes a full personal development programme, sponsored by the inspirational John Haynes Foundation. This programme covers:

- How to eliminate corrosive communication and create great communication skills
- Confidence/Self-Esteem & Beliefs/Self Concept
- Resilience/Confidence
- How to Manage Difficult People

You'll enjoy fun and interactive sessions that make sure learning is never boring, helping you to remember everything you learn.

As well as all of the above, you'll have the opportunity to take part in additional training and development following the completion of the course. This includes certificates and workshops in customer service, a range of business-related topics and workplace behaviours.

At the end of your course, you will have a progression discussion with a member of the team to discuss next steps which includes information advice and guidance on further education and training available at the college. All courses can be found on our website, including:

Academy Bakery

The Academy Bakery is located on the Duke Street campus, producing a range of first class baked goods daily. These include artisan breads, patisserie and biscuits, as well as special occasion/novelty cakes by award-winning master-bakers. Students are offered a range of discounts throughout the year.

Duke Street is also home to The Academy Hair and Beauty salons. They offer generous student discounts on a wide range of hair and beauty treatments, at a fraction of high-street prices. Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. You do not need any prior qualifications, just a willngness to learn. You do need to be aged 19 or over to take part in this course.

Fees

This course is only available to learners aged 19 and over.
If you are unemployed or earning less than £31,600 a year? You may qualify to join this course for free.
