What to expect from the course

This qualification is designed to give students the skills to work in the travel and tourism sector. Students will gain those skills by successfully completing the units required. This qualification will also enable students to progress to further studies and higher education.

This qualification will:

· Focus on the study of the travel and tourism sectors in a number of occupational areas

· Offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge, skills and understanding

· Provide opportunities to acquire a number of practical and work related skills

To achieve the qualification students must complete 9 units of study including The UK travel and tourism industry, Customer service in travel and tourism, Preparing for a career in travel and tourism, Travel and tourism destinations, UK visitor attractions, Hospitality in travel and tourism, The UK conference and event industry, Marketing for travel and tourism, Responsible tourism

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements for our courses depend on the specific requirements of each Programme of Study and an individual’s personal experience, which will all be discussed during the interview process. The following is a guide as to what you might be expected to achieve to gain entry onto the course.
Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 (Previously C) or above including Maths and English Language OR Minimum of 5 GCSEs grade 4 or above including Maths and English Language and relevant subject qualification OR Minimum of Level 2 course in chosen subject at merit or above and English Language and Maths at Level 2
An enthusiasm and passion to succeed and develop yourself with great attendance will be vital to you achieving success on this course.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free.

Please note this is a two year programme that consists of two courses. Your fee status may change from one year to the next depending on age and circumstance at the start of the next course e.g. if you turn 19 before progressing to the next level, you may be required to pay fees as outlined above.
