Course Details

  • This Level 2 qualification is studied over 1 year.
  • Free to adults aged 19+ without a level 3 (or above) qualification.
  • No experience required but an enthusiastic and empathetic outlook is desired.
  • Develop practical skills for a successul career in public services.

  • Take part in a range of land and water based activities and trips - including Houses of Parliament.
  • Get involved in the Duke of Edinburgh challenge and National Citizenship Award's week-long residential

What to expect from the course

This exciting course is delivered through a mixture of practical, theoretical and work-related tasks and activities.

You will be provided with the chance to study subjects related not only to Public Services but also areas such as Sport, Psychology, Sociology, Leadership and Health.

The subjects you will study are wide ranging, engaging and enjoyable, and will enable you to show off your practical and academic ability.

Academy Hair and Beauty Salons

Duke Street is also home to The Academy Hair and Beauty salons. They offer generous student discounts on a wide range of hair and beauty treatments, at a fraction of high-street prices. These include styling, cutting, perming, highlights, facials, manicures, electrolysis and traditional and homeopathic massage.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

Microsoft Office 365 - Free

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D/3 or above, including English and maths.

Please note: If you have not achieved Level 3 GCSE Maths/English, you will resit these GCSEs alongside your main college course.

You should show a genuine interest in the study of public services, be disciplined and committed to working hard.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free.
