What to expect from the course

What does this qualification cover?
The Beginner Innovator pathway is designed for students who wish to develop their skills and start a career in the rapidly growing digital world. This course is the perfect place to start your journey into IT, Digital, Games Design and Innovation as you will create code, websites, games and animation whilst also learning to use a wide variety of innovative digital equipment and support communication online. This course is designed to expose students to a wide variety of IT and Digital learning to progress career opportunities and progression in the Intermediate Pathway.

Who is it suitable for?
This pathway is suitable for students aged 16-18 who have limited experience of knowledge within the Digital Industries.

How is it assessed?
You will be assessed through a range of methods including presentations, practical work and live assessment opportunities.

What will I learn?
You will learn how to code, create websites, games and animations. You will work independently and in small and teams. You will also work directly with large and small local and national employers.

Academy Restaurant

Duke Street campus is also home to the College’s Academy Restaurant. Often referred to by it’s customers as Liverpool’s hidden gem, the restaurant serves top class cuisine, at highly competitive prices. Food is expertly prepared by professional chef/tutors and young chefs in training and offers students a range of discounts at different times of the year.

When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.

Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite

The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.


Career pathways

After completing this course, you'll be ready to progress onto an Intermediate level pathway at The Digital Academy, specialising as a Creator, Developer or Innovator. The Beginner course is an excellent starting point into a wide range of careers within the digital industries.

Entry Requirements

No previous qualifications necessary.

Fees

If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, you won't have to pay any fees for this course.
