What to expect from the course
- The intent of this study programme is to prepare you for progression to the next level of study or into employment in your chosen trade.
The Level 1 programme is a great way to start your career, as it enables you to develop the skills and knowledge required whilst applying safe practice alongside gaining confidence to progress in college and into the Building Services industry.
Working with materials, such as copper and steel, can be very creative, meaning that work which is produced will be admired for years to come. You will gain knowledge and skills required for the use of the specialist tools used for soldering and bending pipework.
As a plumber, you'll need the ability to intricately work with your hands, be able to work well as a team, as well as alone and be able to problem solve. You'll also need to be precise, accurate and be able to follow instructions
Alongside plumbing, you must have a dedicated approach to your English and Maths sessions. Our expectation is that you will make progress by improving the level you have achieved at school or college. You will be assessed for your English and Maths to ensure that you are working at the correct level.
If you have no prior experience and are not employed, then this course might just be what you are looking for.
This programme will help you develop key skills to improve your opportunities of gaining employment. Employers demand that all potential employees can:

Microsoft Office 365 - Free
When you become a student of the College you’ll receive full access to Microsoft Office 365. This allows you to install the software on your own computer and other devices at home, completely free of charge.
Onsite Sports Facilities/Fitness Suite
The college has excellent sports and fitness facilities at its Roscoe Street campus. Students pay a one-off membership fee for all year round usage of weekly supervised gym sessions, as well as access to a number of sporting clubs and events.

Entry Requirements
You do not need to have any formal qualifications in plumbing but you will need to show that you have an interest in the area. You will need to have a Grade 4 or above GCSE in English or Maths
Important Note:
All students are required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment in the workshops. Students may be able to purchase these through the college at a reduced cost.

Fees
If you are 16-18 years old at the start of your course, studying at The City of Liverpool College is free. If you are aged between 19-23 and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, and you need to study at Entry or Level 1 to progress to Level 2, you won't have to pay any fees for this course.
